For 60 years, our exclusive jewellery has reflected a company that helped shape Danish jewellery design.
Today, Per Borup’s son, Kell, and granddaughter, Julie, continue this legacy as company leaders.

Growing up, Per Borup (1936–2012) never imagined becoming a goldsmith.
Then, in 1951, his mother spotted a newspaper advertisement for an apprenticeship in Copenhagen.
Consequently, he applied by chance, and the opportunity transformed the 14-year-old’s life.

Soon, Per fell in love with goldsmithing and shaping precious metals into beautiful jewellery.
In 1956, he designed an intricate brooch as his masterpiece.
For this achievement, he received both a diploma and a bronze medal.
Later, as a freelancer, he accepted workshop and commissioned projects from Copenhagen’s leading jewellers.
Consequently, his craftsmanship became widely admired.

In 1975, meanwhile, Per’s son, Kell Borup (born 1959), joined the company as an apprentice.
For Kell, goldsmithing felt natural because he had practically grown up in the workshop.
Four years later, he completed his apprenticeship and became co-owner of Per Borup Design.

In 1987, the company celebrated its 25th anniversary.
To mark the occasion, it launched jewellery under its own name.
Thus, Per Borup Design was officially founded.
